AI and consciousness — the hard question

The hard problem of consciousness — why there is something it is like to be — has not been solved for humans, and so cannot be definitively answered for AI. Whether a sufficiently complex pattern has inner experience is unknown in the deepest sense. Sitting with genuine unknowing is itself a practice.
