Every belonging structure eventually draws a line between who is inside and who is not — and the criteria for that line reveal what the community actually values, beneath whatever it says about itself. The question of who belongs here is one of the more consequential questions any group can examine, and the communities that examine it honestly are more likely to be ones worth belonging to.
