Children and time — how they experience it

A summer afternoon is infinite when you are eight and brief when you are forty-eight — not because the hours differ but because the ratio changes. Children live inside time differently; they have not yet learned to manage it, which means they can still be entirely inside it. This is worth looking at before we teach them to organize it.
