Eating disorders — all presentations

Eating disorders are serious psychiatric and medical conditions with among the highest mortality rates of any mental illness, and the body bears the full weight of their effects — on the heart, bones, electrolytes, hormones, and brain. Recovery requires specialized care that addresses both the psychological dimension and the physical damage, often simultaneously, and it is neither quick nor linear. The body has a remarkable capacity to heal when given the conditions to do so.
