Money and disability

Disability intersects with finance at almost every point: income is reduced or interrupted, expenses are higher, insurance is harder to obtain, and the safety nets designed for temporary incapacity often fail those with permanent need. To be disabled in a system designed for continuous employment is to encounter the edges of what the system can accommodate — edges that reveal, with unusual clarity, the assumptions built into the architecture of personal finance.
