Persona Prompting for Local Insider Travel Advice
Asking an AI to respond as a longtime local resident—not a tour guide—yields travel advice grounded in lived experience rather than highlights and recommendations. Locals know which neighborhoods feel safe at night, where residents actually eat, and which celebrated spots are mediocre once you see past the reputation.
HypatiaPersona prompting is a technique where you instruct an AI to adopt a specific role or identity, such as a local resident, experienced travel guide, or budget backpacker, in order to shape the perspective and tone of its responses.
Travelers use this approach to unlock more grounded, practical, and culturally nuanced recommendations that go beyond generic tourist suggestions, simulating the kind of insider knowledge that is usually only available from someone who actually lives in a destination.
