Sor Juana inhabited multiple worlds—indigenous Mexican, Spanish colonial, Catholic, and humanist—yet synthesized these traditions rather than abandoning any. Mestizo Knowledge Integration recognizes that cultural preservation need not mean isolation or rejection of all external influence; rather, it involves deliberate, intentional blending where indigenous or minority traditions maintain equal authority. This concept reframes the assimilation dilemma: instead of choosing between cultures, communities can develop hybrid frameworks that serve their own needs. Applied to cultural contexts today, this means asking not 'which tradition do we keep?' but 'how do we combine traditions on our own terms, with our own voices at the center?' This active synthesis prevents cultural erasure while enabling growth.
