Freedom as the Highest Love Language

Mirabai chose freedom—she left her family, rejected the role of widow, and pursued her spiritual path despite fierce opposition. Her love for Krishna was inseparable from her refusal to be bound by external authority or social expectation. This concept reframes boundaries as an expression of love rather than its limitation. When you set a boundary, you are saying to the other person: I love you enough to be honest. I respect you enough to not pretend. I value this relationship enough to protect its integrity. Freedom as a love language means celebrating your partner's autonomy, supporting their growth even when it takes them away from you, and refusing to use emotional manipulation to keep them small. It means recognizing that you cannot control or save another person, and that attempting to do so violates both their freedom and yours. Mirabai's life demonstrates that the deepest devotion sometimes means letting go.
