Lila: Loss and Creation as Divine Play

Lila is the Sanskrit concept of divine play—the idea that creation itself is an expression of divine joy and spontaneity, not driven by need or lack. In bhakti, even suffering and loss can be understood as part of lila: real, consequential, and also somehow participant in a vast creative dance.
