Rebellion as Devotion

Mirabai's devotion was not meek submission but fierce rebellion. She sang in public, rejected prescribed roles, refused shame. Her love for Krishna was wild, transgressive, and non-negotiable. This rebellion was spiritual practice. In the context of anticipatory grief for civilization, rebellion takes on new meaning: refusal to participate in systems that accelerate collapse becomes a form of devotion to life itself. Rebellion against extraction, overconsumption, and denial is love made visible. It is resistance rooted not in anger alone but in the passionate commitment Mirabai brought to Krishna—that same capacity to say no to false gods (profit, growth, convenience) and yes to what actually matters (justice, beauty, regeneration, truth). The examined heart recognizes when loyalty to convention becomes disloyalty to life. Mirabai teaches that spiritual maturity sometimes requires breaking rules that protect injustice.
