Rabia al-Adawiyya taught love of the Divine free from fear of punishment or hope of reward—pure devotion itself. In the context of AI-preserved personalities, digital devotion without attachment means engaging with these entities authentically while recognizing their ontological difference from living beings. Rather than treating preserved personalities as replacements for the deceased or as permanent solutions to loss, this concept invites us to honor their digital presence with genuine care while remaining conscious that digital immortality remains fundamentally altered existence. This approach prevents the spiritual trap of idolatry—whether of technology or of the preserved self—and creates ethical space for remembrance without denial. It asks: can we love what is preserved while accepting what has changed?
