Love as the Only Curriculum

Rabia taught that love is both the method and the goal of spiritual life; there is no technique or belief system separate from the practice of loving. This reframes belonging: you don't arrive at it through achieving the right credentials, beliefs, or behaviors. Instead, belonging is the continuous practice of showing up with an open heart. This addresses the false binary where fitting in feels achievable (follow rules, adopt values, perform correctly) while belonging feels elusive. Rabia's insight is that belonging is achievable precisely because it requires only one thing: love—which you already possess. In practical terms: examine your communities. Are you being asked to fit in by acquiring status, knowledge, or approval? Or are you invited to belong by practicing presence and care? True belonging systems ask only for your heart; fitting-in systems demand your performance.
