Love Without Ownership

Rabia al-Adawiyya taught love of God without desire for reward or fear of punishment—love for its own sake. In foster parenting, this translates to caring for a child with full presence and commitment while accepting that the relationship may be temporary or that the child belongs ultimately to their own path. This concept dissolves the tension between attachment and impermanence, allowing foster parents to give generously without grasping.
