Should our team trust the AI's design work, or check everything?

Your pod runs simulations now in minutes that once took days. Some of you trust the output without question. Others refuse to touch it, doing everything by hand out of suspicion. Both are ways of avoiding the actual work — thinking. The machine does not know your project. It knows patterns. It will hand you a plausible answer whether the answer is right or wrong, and it says both with the same confident tone. That confidence is not evidence. This is not a question of technology. It is a question of discipline. Who checks the numbers? Who asks 'why' before the design moves forward? Decide that now, together, before the next output lands on your desk.

Most teams already suspect AI can be wrong; what they lack is a shared practice for catching it, so coaching toward habits matters more than explaining the technology.

What’s really going on

The tool is not the danger. Your surrender is. Neither ignore it nor obey it — assign someone to verify, every time, before it ships. A team that never checks becomes a team that cannot think. Choose verification as a habit, not an afterthought.

A moveName one person on the pod as verifier for every AI-generated result this week, and rotate the role.
A moveBefore accepting any AI output, write down what you expected the answer to be — then compare the two.
A moveRun one manual check per week on a result the team already treats as settled.
A moveWhen someone defers entirely to the AI, ask them out loud: 'What would you check if this were wrong?'
A moveSet a team rule: no AI output ships until one person can explain why it's correct, not just that it looks correct.

What changes unlock by starting

  • Your team catches errors before they reach production, not after.
  • You build a shared habit of checking, replacing both blind trust and blind refusal.
  • Each person can explain the reasoning behind a design, not just point to the tool that produced it.
  • The pod moves faster because trust is earned through verification, not assumed by default.
