The AI can measure everything I do — so what's mine?
You open the dashboard. It has already scored your work — compared it to a hundred others, given you a number. You feel smaller. This is the real complaint: not that the tool is wrong, but that it might be right, and you don't know what's left of you once it is. Here is what the number cannot hold. It cannot hold the choice you made about which problem was worth solving. It cannot hold your judgment when the data disagreed with what you knew from experience. It cannot hold the moment you said no to a plan that scored well but was wrong. So stop measuring yourself against the model. Measure yourself against the choices only you could make. Name one from today. That is the work now — not competing with the machine, but noticing what it can't do.
The machine counts what you did. It cannot count what you chose to notice, refuse, or say plainly when it was wrong. Stop asking what you add to its numbers. Ask instead what you chose today that no model chose for you. That choice was yours. It still is.
