Why do I crash every afternoon, and what should I do?

Every afternoon, your energy falls. You reach for coffee, or you push harder, or you distract yourself with small tasks. This is not weakness. It is the body telling the truth about its own rhythm. When I cooked for many people, I learned the fire cannot stay high all day. It rises, it settles, it rises again. Your body is the same fire. You are not alone with this dip. Your pod feels it too, even if no one says so out loud. When you name it together, you can build the day around it, instead of each person quietly fighting it alone.

What’s really going on

The dip is not a failure of will. Your body has a natural low point in the afternoon, just as it has one at night. Pushing through with caffeine only borrows energy you will pay back later. Work with the dip instead — pause briefly, then resume. This is practice, not punishment.

A moveTrack the exact time the dip arrives, each of you, for one week.
A moveAgree together on a shared 10-minute pause at that time — no meetings, no requests, no exceptions.
A moveReplace the coffee reflex with a short walk or stretch, done together when you can.
A moveMove your hardest task before the dip, and your easiest task into it.
A moveTell each other, plainly, what you tried and what actually helped.

What changes unlock by starting

  • You stop treating the dip as a personal failing.
  • You and your pod build a shared, protected pause into the day.
  • Your afternoon work gets easier, because you are not fighting your own body.
  • You use caffeine and willpower only when truly needed, not as a daily crutch.
