Why do I keep paying for subscriptions I don't use?
Small charges hide well. Five dollars here, twelve there — none of it looks like much alone. But add them together, and you may find money leaving your account for things you no longer use, or never truly chose. This is not a failure of your character. It is by design. A system that profits from your forgetting does not serve you equally — it serves itself. Reason asks a plain question of any arrangement: who does this benefit? Here, the answer is not you. The fix asks nothing clever of you, only steadiness. Look at every charge, one at a time, and judge each on its own merit. What earns its place stays. What does not, goes.
You are not careless. Companies design subscriptions to be easy to start and easy to forget — this serves them, not you. Reason alone will not fix it; you must act. Pull your last two statements, list every charge, and ask plainly: does this still serve me? Cancel what does not.
