Why do my guarded, resistant clients still shut me out?
You've built real skill. Most clients answer warmth with warmth, and you've learned to use that. But some don't move, and you call it your failure. It isn't. It's a different starting point, and you're still using the same map. A guarded client has usually been burned before, by someone who talked well and delivered nothing. Your charm is not evidence to them. They are watching what you do when it costs you something — not what you say when it's easy. Warmth without proof reads to them as another pitch. You don't have to solve this alone. Bring your hardest case to your pod. Let them watch you, or play the client against you. You will see your own habits faster through their eyes than through your own excuses.
They are not defeating you. You are waiting for their trust to arrive before you've earned it. A guarded person does not respond to warmth — they respond to proof. Stop trying to open them up. Choose one small, verifiable action and keep it exactly. Do that before you ask for anything else.
