Why do we freeze when the situation gets messy, not clean?

You know the playbook now. Clean situation, clear signal, you act. That was never the hard part — you built it and it works. The hard part is what happens when the situation is not clean. When conditions degrade, you freeze, or worse, you push through on the strength of a signal that was never built for this. That is not ignorance. That is a tool used outside its design. A knife does not fail because you know less about cutting — it fails because you tried to use it as a saw. You did not build this alone and you will not fix it alone. Your pod saw the same collapse from different angles. Pool what each of you noticed in the last bad stretch, and you will have the raw material for signals that hold under pressure — not because you willed it, but because you built for the actual conditions this time.

Because your signals were trained on calm weather. You learned to read clear situations, so you trust them there — and abandon judgment the moment things degrade. The fix is not more knowledge. It is building, with your pod, a second set of signals made specifically for chaos, before the next mess arrives.

A moveWith your pod, name the last three times things went sideways — write down what each person noticed right before the freeze or the bad push-through.
A moveSort those moments: which were 'degraded' (same situation, worse conditions) versus 'unusual' (a situation you had no playbook for at all). Treat them as different problems.
A moveFor each degraded case, agree on one new signal built for that specific decay — not a cleaner version of your old one.
A moveFor unusual cases, choose in advance a single default action when no signal fires: stop and ask the pod, don't guess alone.
A moveRehearse the new signals out loud with your pod before you need them — say what you'd notice, say what you'd do, before the real version happens.
