Trauma-informed parenting begins from the question underneath the behavior: what happened to this child, and what does this moment feel like from inside their nervous system? It does not excuse all behavior, but it changes how the parent responds — with curiosity rather than only consequence. Children who have been through hard things need to know that the adults around them can tolerate the truth of their experience.
