Belonging is not the same as being included, and the difference matters enormously. Inclusion can happen while you remain an outsider by courtesy; belonging is when your presence actually changes the shape of the group, when you are missed when you are gone. It requires being known — not performing acceptance — and being received by others who are genuinely present.
