DBT for emotional dysregulation

Dialectical Behavior Therapy, developed by Marsha Linehan from her own lived experience, balances radical acceptance of the present moment with the commitment to skillful change — a dialectic the Sutras would recognize as the tension between vairāgya (non-attachment) and abhyāsa (disciplined practice). DBT's four skill modules — mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness — constitute a comprehensive training in the competencies most disrupted by emotional dysregulation. It was built for borderline personality disorder and has proven effective across the spectrum of high-affect conditions.
