Knowledge + Guidance

AI can write articles now. Do I ignore it or fear it?

You are doing one of two things. You are telling yourself this does not matter, so you never have to look at it. Or you are telling yourself it will end your career, so you never have to look at it either. Notice — both responses spare you the same thing: looking. The tool is not the problem. Your refusal to examine it is. A machine that writes sentences is a fact of your working life now, like weather. You do not fear weather or dismiss it. You check it, and you act. What is in your power: sitting down, using the thing, and finding out plainly what it can and cannot do. What is not in your power: the fact that it exists. Stop spending your strength on the second and put it toward the first.

The core failure here is a fear pattern, not a lack of facts, so coaching leads while a small amount of grounding keeps the reader from swinging back to denial or dread.

What’s really going on

You will not think clearly about this by refusing to look, or by imagining the worst. Neither is examination. Choose a third path: open the tool, use it yourself, find its limits with your own hands. What you learn this way is yours. What you fear in the dark rarely survives the light.

A moveOpen the tool today. Write one real piece with it, start to finish, on a topic you actually work on.
A moveName three things it did badly. Write them down in plain words — do not soften them.
A moveName one thing it did well. Do not flinch from this either.
A moveWrite down, in one sentence, the part of the work only you can do.
A moveSet a day next week to test it again. Compare what changed. Keep doing this until the fear has facts to answer to.

What changes unlock by starting

  • You know what the tool can and cannot do, from your own hands, not from rumor or panic.
  • Your fear shrinks to its true size, because you measured the thing instead of imagining it.
  • You can name, plainly, the part of your work that still needs you.
  • You stop swinging between dismissal and dread, and start deciding from evidence.
One object, two jobs: a public answer to a real problem, and — the moment you start the chat — Aurelius’s live plan for your version of it.
