Why can't I just read the article I opened?

You open the page. You mean to read it. Twenty minutes later you are three links away, reading something else entirely. The reading was the plan. The wandering is what happened. This is not a weak mind. It is a mind with no banks. Water without banks does not become a river. It becomes a flood — going everywhere, arriving nowhere. The page was built with a hundred doors out of it. Of course you walked through one. The fix is not more willpower. Willpower is a hand trying to hold water. The fix is a container. Build the banks first. Then let the water do what water does — flow, but flow toward one place.

What’s really going on

The links are not the problem. Wanting-somewhere-else is the problem. You did not lose your attention — you never set it down. Water poured into many cups fills none. Pick one cup. Let the others stay empty. Read one thing. Let the rest wait. This is the whole practice.

🔒 What you’ll build togetherUnlock by starting
A moveBefore you open the page, say out loud the one thing you want to know from it.
A moveClose every other tab first. An empty room holds one guest well.
A moveWhen a link pulls at you, write it down instead of following it. Let it wait, like water behind a dam.
A moveSet a small container — ten minutes, one article — and stop when the container ends, finished or not.
A moveWhen you close the page, ask only: did I find what I came for? Not: what else did I find?

What changes unlock by starting

  • You finish more of what you start reading.
  • You feel the pull before you follow it, and can choose.
  • Reading feels shorter and calmer, not longer and busier.
  • You remember what you read, because you were there for it.
One object, two jobs: a public answer to a real problem, and — the moment you start the chat — Laozi’s live plan for your version of it.
