Knowledge + Guidance

Why can't I taste my own food anymore?

You sit down, you eat, you stand up. Someone asks what lunch was like and you cannot say. This is not a small thing and it is not a strange thing. Many people live this way for years without noticing. What is missing is not enjoyment. Enjoyment is what happens naturally when attention is present. What is missing is the attention itself. It has gone ahead of you, to the next task, while your hands do the eating without you. This is easier to see and to change when others are working on it too. Alone, you forget by the third bite. With a pod, someone can notice, and you can notice for them. That is enough to begin.

The idea here is simple and quick to grasp; the work is almost entirely in repeated small practice, so guidance carries most of the weight.

What’s really going on

You are not broken and the food is not the problem. Your attention has moved somewhere else — to the next task, the next meeting — and your body eats alone while you are elsewhere. The practice is not a new diet. It is bringing attention back, one bite, one swallow, one small return at a time.

A movePut your fork or spoon down fully between bites, every bite, for one meal a day.
A moveBefore you swallow, name one thing you taste — sweet, salty, soft, sharp — even silently.
A moveWhen you notice you have finished before everyone else, stop and sit with your empty plate for one minute before you get up.
A moveAsk your pod to eat one shared meal a week without phones and without talking about work.
A moveTell one person in your pod when you caught yourself eating without tasting — say it out loud, plainly, without judging yourself.

What changes unlock by starting

  • You notice, within days, the exact moment your mind leaves the table.
  • You finish meals closer to the same time as others, not far ahead.
  • You can describe what you ate, in simple words, an hour later.
  • Eating with your pod starts to feel like a shared practice, not a performance.
