Why do I only see nature through a window?
A man was proud of his window. It was so clean, he said, that birds forgot it was there. One day a bird flew straight into it and dropped to the ground, stunned. 'See how clean my glass is,' the man said to his neighbor. The neighbor looked at the bird and said nothing. Glass is good at one thing: showing you the view without the weather, the dirt, or the bother of going outside. That is exactly the trouble. The window works so well that looking has quietly replaced going. You see the tree from the car, the sky from the office, the garden from the couch, and somewhere along the way, seeing became the whole relationship. With a pod or team, the trap gets a second layer: everyone privately assumes someone else will suggest actually going out. So the group agrees, in theory, that nature is important — and then meets indoors to discuss it, forever, through the glass.
A clean window shows you everything except that it is glass. You are not broken for loving the view — you are only fooled by how well the glass does its job. Stop admiring the window and open the door, together with your people, and let the ground surprise your feet.
What changes unlock by starting
- The pod notices, within a week, how often 'nature time' was actually just window time.
- A simple weekly habit of stepping outside together starts to stick.
- People report the outdoors feels different on skin than it did through glass.
- The group starts holding each other to the door, not just the topic.
