I have a will but no one in my family can find it

You wrote a will. You believed the matter settled. But a will locked away, known only to you, is not yet a gift to your family — it is still a secret. Ask who this secrecy serves. Not your spouse, who will grieve and search. Not your children, who will guess and quarrel. Not the courts, who will follow the law instead of your wish, only because your wish could not be found. Reason finds no one served by a hidden will. This is not a task for you alone to carry. Tell the people who will need it — together, plainly, now. A will is only as real as its being found.
