If I got suddenly sick or hurt, who'd feed my pets or pay my bills?

You already understand the risk. Illness and accident do not send a warning first. The gap is not in your thinking — it is that nothing is written down, and no single person has been given the standing to act for you. Ask who is excluded when no plan exists. The pet who cannot speak for itself. The person you would trust, but never told. Even you, denied the plain peace of knowing it is handled. Reason will not let us call this a small matter, because the cost of doing nothing falls on others, not only on you. This is not a legal document that requires a lawyer. It is a plain page a person can write in an afternoon — if they simply begin.
