Should our team trust the AI, or just ignore it?

You did not choose to farm in an age of sensors and models. That part is not up to you. What is up to you is how your team treats the numbers on the screen — as a servant to question, or a master to obey. Most teams pick one extreme because it is easier than judgment. Ignore the tool, and you call it wisdom when it is only stubbornness. Trust it blindly, and you call it progress when it is only laziness. Both let you skip the harder work: walking the field yourself and deciding together what the data actually means. This is not a technology problem. It is a discipline problem, and discipline is something a team can practice.

What’s really going on

Neither. A tool has no wisdom of its own — it only returns what you feed it. Your team's job is to test its output against the actual field, keep one person accountable for the final call, and never let the machine decide what only you can decide. Use it. Question it. Never obey it.
